I don’t if anyone has heard yet, but if you’re a fan of No Doubt like myself, then you know they are going on tour this summer! Yes, it’s true! The band is officially off of hiatus and back in the studio making music for their upcoming 6th studio album. With the new excitement of the band being together again they have decided to hit the ground running, and to kick off they’re return they are putting on a huge tour! Starting in May No Doubt will hit the road full force. Tagging along with them will be Paramore, The Sounds, Janelle Monae, as well as others. This is a show I definitely do not plan on missing, and from what I hear they are amazing live! Tickets go onsale to the public March 7th.

Below is a video No Doubt posted on their website when they announced the dates. If you want to know where they are heading, then check out the video.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs!

In the past I haven’t listened to a lot of music by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but recently I came across  Karen O, lead singer of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, on N.A.S.A.’s new album and was definitely liking what I heard. Just two weeks later we now have two new tracks off of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs upcoming album titled It’s Blitz!, which is due out April 14th. The first track that leaked and the first single “Zero” has been getting a lot of buzz on other blogs. This song is different from what most Yeah Yeah Yeahs fans are used to hearing, and contains much more of an electronica/dance vibe. The second song “Heads Will Roll” is my favorite out of the two. Sounding very much like New Order’s  hit “Blue Monday” the Yeah Yeah Yeahs could do no wrong with this song. Karen O’s vocals over the synths equal a perfect match.

Here is a link to “Zero” via the Yeah Yeah Yeahs youtube.com channel.

Kid Cudi – “Day N Nite”

Kid Cudi

Today I have Kid Cudi’s newly released video for his single “Day N Nite.” You may remember him from my last post as the featured artist in Kanye West’s song “Welcome To Heartbreak.” I think it’s time I give you a little more background on this “Kid Cudi.” For the past few months I’ve been seeing his name come up a lot on many music blogs, but it took my awhile to give him a chance. Cudi is a rapper from Ohio who just jumped onto the radar recently with his mixtape in 2008 titled A Kid Named Cudi. The mixtape impressed Kanye West and earned Cudi a spot on his GOOD Music Label. Cudi is definitely something new for the music business. His style incorporates a lot of rapping/singing. He almost sounds as if he’s singing while he’s rapping. For most people it’s a hit or a miss with Kid Cudi. You’re either going to like his style or hate it. The way I’ve been seeing his song “Day N Nite” climb up the radio charts lately, I would say he doesn’t have to worry too much about the haters. Check out his new video for “Day N Nite” below and see what you think.

Welcome To Heartbreak

Kanye West
New Kanye West! Kanye just released his video for the song “Welcome To Heartbreak” featuring Kid Cudi. Like everything else on his latest album 808s and Heartbreak, “Welcome To Heartbreak” is very different from what we are used to hearing from Kanye. Once again we find Kanye using an auto-tuner as well as adding some synths on the track. The video is unlike anything I’ve ever seen, and it’s definitely follows the artistic approach Kanye’s been going for. For this one he uses a lot of different color configurations and 3D effects. The creative concept with this video definitely worked. Nice one, Kanye.

What do you think?

Drake-So Far Gone

drizzy4

Drake is a rapper/singer straight out of Canada that is already making a name for himself as one of the most anticipated up and coming artists of 2009. If you don’t already know him as Drake, then you’re probably more familiar with his acting career. Drake ( Aubrey Graham) is best known for playing character “Jimmy Brooks” on the canadian show Degrassi. After making a name for himself as an actor he turned to his other love…music. Since putting out his first mixtape “Room For Improvement” back in 2006, and following it up with 2007’s “Comeback Season,” Drake has been proving to the world that he can do more than just act.

Now under the mentoring of Lil’ Wayne, Drake is becoming a household name. He has the style of a new “Will Smith” and a flow so laidback and clever you would think it comes so easy to him. He just released his latest mixtape “So Far Gone” off of his official blog October’s Very Own. With guest appearances on the tape including Lil’ Wayne, Bun B, Santigold, Lykke Li, and Trey Songz he couldn’t have possibly made it any better.

Highlight’s of the album include the indie meets hip-hop track “Let’s Call it Off” featuring Peter Bjorn and John, and “Unstoppable” featuring Santigold and Lil’ Wayne. You can download the mixtape for free on his blog October’s Very Own.

Ready for Takeoff

First post. I’m ready to start this off. With this blog I plan on letting everyone know about the latest music coming out, new artists, my favorite artists, and just any music that’s worth sharing with the world. I check out a lot of music blogs on a day to day basis, because I have to stay up on the latest leaks. I figured its about time that I share what music I think everyone should hear, and what artists everyone should know about. My musical tastes are all over the place so no genre will be excluded. Whatever music I find that has me wanting to press repeat is fair game. Let’s go!

Here’s a site worth going to that is always updated with the latest music blog posts: http://hypem.com/
